Electric charging 28% more expensive than petrol!
The cost of electric charging a car at motorway services can be up to 28% higher than filling up the car with petrol.
New research from What Car? has been collected to compare electric cars and petrol equivalents across a 200-mile journey. The two cars were driven in convoy between Yorkshire and Cobham. One of the cars that was compared in this electric charging experiment was the BMW i4 M50 electric car. It was compared with the 4 Series Gran Coupe M440i petrol. The fully electric Peugeot e-208 was compared with the 208 Puretech 130 petrol car.
At the beginning of the journey, the cars all had a full tank of fuel. The electric cars had a full battery. Once the vehicles had arrived the electric cars were plugged in and the petrol cars filled up to find out how much the 200-mile journey cost. The e-208 worked out 28.4% more expensive than the petrol equivalent. The i4 was 10.8% more expensive than the 4 Series Gran Coupe M440i.
Have you made a plan for electric charging?
With the recent increases in petrol and diesel prices, many people might be considering the move to electric. The warnings about electricity bills increasing at home will also mean that extra consideration is needed if you are thinking about moving to a fully electric vehicle but Steve Huntingford of What Car? still believes that an electric car should cost significantly less to run if you can charge at home.
“When deciding whether an electric car is right for you, it’s important to consider how you would charge it. Even with energy bills going through the roof, an electric car should cost significantly less to run than any petrol alternative if you can top it up at home overnight. However, as our test has shown, lower fuel bills are certainly not a given if you’re relying on the public network, due to the high prices of some companies.

This was always going to be the case.
The fuel companies, industrialists, and MPs who reside in their pockets made sure that the more expensive green energy option of using batteries that required charging with electricity created by pollution creating power stations, with the most polluting and scarce elements on the planet, Lithium, estimated mining levels to run out around 2030! Combined with the other polluting elements in the electric vehicle batteries, overall, electric vehicles are far more polluting and dangerous than any internal combustion engined vehicle.
The use of hydrogen powered vehicles that produce only water as by product, along with the almost 100% recycling of all parts of the hydrogen engine would have meant that the pollution saving use of hydrogen powered vehicles, of all types, not just the limited motor car type vehicles would have seen an almost instant reduction, in real terms, once all vehicles powered by hydrogen were operating.
Destroying the planet and killing all life carried out by the big money corporations and people and their corrupt back pocket friends
