Bank holiday sunshine for Berkhamsted Raiders in Bournemouth
This bank holiday weekend ‘The Bournemouth Classic’ takes place at Bournemouth Sports Club involving Berkhamsted Raiders teams in the U8 to U12 categories. Play started at 9am this morning (Saturday 5th May) and continues until around 3pm on Sunday 6th May. The U7, U9, U10, U13 winners will be presented at 3.30pm, the U8, U9G, U11G, U12G, U11 teams at 5.15pm and U13G, U14G, U12, U14 at 7pm meaning the families staying in the Sandford Holiday Park will then be free to enjoy the glorious weather forecast for the South coast!
Hottest bank holiday on record – water bottles will be required!
With above-normal temperatures predicted for the Bank Holiday weekend – it’s likely that Monday 7th May will be the warmest May bank holiday on record in England and Wales. Accuweather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said “Temperatures will range from near 20 C (68 F) in Yorkshire and coastal locations of England to as high as 27 C (81 F) in and around London,”. We hope all the Berkhamsted Raiders and their families enjoy the sunshine, stay hydrated (with the help of our Car Magic sports bottles) and of course bring home some trophies!

Berkhamsted Raiders CFC were awarded the Herts FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year 2016/17 and in the year before they were given the UEFA European Grassroots Club of the Year – Silver Award 2015/16. The club is one of the most successful and respected youth football clubs in the country, which is in part thanks to the work of the Raiders volunteers and the parents too.
This season over 1,000 boys and girls will play in 80 teams from Under 7 to Under 18. The club has a Ladies, Veterans and Senior team, as well as initiatives for Walking and Inclusive Football. Girls Football is a key focus for the club this year and is growing fast!
