New lease of life for 15 year old BMW
Back in the summer, we worked on a 15 year old BMW 530i. The owner was under no illusions about the cars condition. In fact he said
“The front bumper on my 2003 530i was out of alignment and the lacquer was peeling, also had rust blisters around the wheel arch, sill and boot lock. The rubbers around my headlights had also perished.”
BMW 530i – In the oven
Before we provided an estimate for the work on this BMW, we had taken a good look at the whole car to see where our specialist body repair skills could also be of use. The BMW owner remarked that “Stuart took time to examine the bodywork identifying areas where he could polish out various small scratches etc while he had the car in for repair.”
We always aim to provide you with options to restore your vehicle to its former glory. This makes sense whilst we already have it in the workshop. The cost for touching up smaller areas can be incorporated into our quote for the main body repair. It’s always wise to think about the bigger picture when getting your car repaired or resprayed.
Here’s the BMW in our on-site oven sitting next to the freshly repaired bumper. The main areas of work other than the bumper can be seen below. The offside rear wheel arch and offside sill are ready for painting. We first repair, fill and prime the bodywork, before it is sprayed and cooked to perfection in our low-bake oven.
Ready for collection – the 15 year old BMW 530i
On collection the owner thought that his BMW 530i looked like new. It is also really pleasing that he appreciated the level of workmanship that had gone into the repairs. We already know that Stuart is a great guy, but it’s lovely to hear it from our customers too 👇
“I collected the car this afternoon and what a brilliant job Stuart has done, the colour match and finish is superb and bearing in mind the car is 15 years old it actually looks like new. The way Stuart has blended the paintwork proves that he takes great pride in his work and is a master craftsman. He is also a very friendly approachable honest guy who gives you great service at a reasonable price.”
On collection of the BMW
To collect his BMW the customer had arrived in his wife’s car which also could do with a little bit of TLC. Stuart assessed the body repairs needed and came to the conclusion that on the 1999 registration car, it wasn’t really worth spending out to remove the minor rust and scratches. Thankfully though, all was not lost.
“Upon collecting my car in my wife’s 1999 Lexus IS200 I asked him to quote on some minor rust and scratches. He went around the car and said due to the age it was in his opinion not worth spending what it would cost. He did say however that he had some of that actual colour paint and he could use it to tidy up the bodywork if we wanted. When I asked how much he said that as it was a fairly quick job he would do it free of charge!”
In his review of our services, Peter, the BMW’s owner then went on to say that “This proves what a fair, honest guy he is and someone who puts the customer first before anything else. This is a 5 star company with 5 star personnel who you can trust 100% to do a first class job for both minor and major repairs. Car Magic are a very professional outfit who put the customer first and are a credit to themselves.”
