A classic repair on a classic Jaguar XK8
We are sure you’re familiar with the classic shape of the Jaguar XK. This two-door grand touring 2+2 was first manufactured over 20 years ago and comes in either coupe or convertible body styles. The first generation was marketed as the Jaguar XK8, replacing the XJS and was Jaguar’s first 8-cylinder model since the Daimler 250. This particular Jaguar XK8 came into our workshop for a near side rear quarter repair and we couldn’t help but take some photos of this classic green beauty.

Here’s a first look at the damage to the near side rear quarter:
First it’s a job for filler, which we apply to the damaged area. The filler is then sanded to a smooth finish before the car is moved to our on-site low bake oven.
Inside the oven we painstakingly cover all the other parts of the car and then apply primer which acts as an undercoat to the paint and lacquer.
The next step is to coat the repaired areas in precision-matched paint and then finish with a coat of lacquer. We give all our cars a wash, wax and polish before they’re returned to their owners – who often agree they come back looking better than ever.
